What's it really like to be Executive Director of SwedCham Taipei?

As part of our Executive Director recruitment, we asked our current Executive Director to share what it's really like to work at SwedCham Taipei.

Here are five quick questions (and honest answers!).

☕ What will your typical day look like?There isn't one! One day you'll be meeting CEOs or government representatives. The next you'll be organising an event, updating the website, visiting a university, planning Sweden Ball with the Sweden Alumni Network in Taiwan, or solving practical challenges. If you enjoy variety, you'll never be bored.

🌍 Who will you work with?You'll work with an inspiring mix of Swedish and Taiwan-based companies, entrepreneurs, universities, government agencies, Team Sweden partners, Young Professionals and the wider international business community. It's a role that offers an exceptional professional network.

💡 What's the biggest challenge?SwedCham Taipei is a small organisation with big ambitions. You'll wear many hats, juggle different priorities and often find creative solutions. If you enjoy building things and making an impact, this is where you'll thrive.

🇸🇪 What have you enjoyed most about the role?The trust and the people. While you work under the guidance of the Board, you'll enjoy a high degree of independence and the freedom to take initiative, make decisions and shape the Chamber's activities. There's also plenty of flexibility to manage your own time, something I've really appreciated. But above all, it's the people. Building lasting relationships, connecting members and watching the Swedish business community in Taiwan grow into an even stronger, close-knit network has been the most rewarding part of all.

🚀 Who will enjoy this role?If you're someone who likes making things happen, you'll probably love it. You'll need to be comfortable switching between strategy and hands-on work, happy to work independently and not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. Most importantly, you'll genuinely enjoy meeting people and helping others succeed. If that gives you energy, you'll fit right in.
