Meet Tim Schmiterlöw – one of the newest members of our SwedCham Young Professionals community

Tim is currently based in Tokyo, where he’s pursuing his Master’s at Meiji University, continuing his studies in Chinese and diving into international relations. His focus? The fascinating connections between China, Japan, and Taiwan, and how history still quietly shapes the way these relationships evolve today.

What really draws Tim in is the relationship between Japan and Taiwan, not just politically, but culturally — from traditions and art to how these influences carry through into trade and economic life. It’s this mix of culture and real-world impact that keeps him curious.

Although he’s studying in Japan, Tim is a frequent visitor to Taiwan, which makes us especially happy as we look forward to welcoming him to future SwedCham events.

Looking ahead, Tim hopes to build an international career bridging Europe and East Asia, contributing to greater understanding and collaboration across regions.
