Last week, SwedCham Young Professionals had the pleasure of co-hosting our Career Path Event: Breaking into Finance together with National Taiwan University, Office of International Affairs (NTU, OIA). The students got to find out what it really takes to break into the finance industry.
The session was expertly moderated by Vera Xu, Interim Team Leader (Taiwan) Sales & Senior Relationship Manager at Bloomberg, who guided the conversation with sharp insights and created a space for open, honest discussion.
The distinguished speakers included:
• Stephen Ho, Former Managing Director, DBS Bank (Taiwan)
• Sean Teng, Head of Institutional and International Business, Cathay SITE
• Jane Hsieh, Senior Asset Management & Fixed Income Expert, PIMCO
• Jennifer Hsieh, Equity Research Associate (Asia Tech Research), J.P. Morgan
Across the discussion, the speakers highlighted that breaking into finance is not just about technical skills, but about mindset and long-term development. They emphasized the importance of integrity, strong fundamentals, and continuous learning in an industry that evolves quickly. Bringing together NTU students and members of the Swedish community in Taiwan, the evening concluded with lively networking, leaving participants both inspired and better equipped to navigate the finance sector.
