As we approach 30 April, we are preparing to celebrate the Swedish tradition of Valborgsmässoafton (Walpurgis Night). This year’s celebration will consist of two parts, with the main focus on our evening afterwork, complemented by a YP pre-event earlier in the day.

But what is Valborg? Valborg is one of Sweden’s most well-known spring traditions. Historically, it was associated with lighting bonfires to mark the changing seasons and ward off evil spirits. Today, it is celebrated as a way to welcome spring and bring communities together. Across Sweden, people gather to sing, celebrate, and mark the transition from the long winter months to brighter days ahead.

While SwedCham will not host a bonfire, we look forward to celebrating in a way that reflects the spirit of the tradition.

Main Event: Valborg. Join us for an evening of networking and celebration at DAMN bar at Maji Square. During the evening, Chalmers International Taiwan Office (CITO) will also organize traditional Swedish games.

Pre-Event: YP Kubb in the Park. Earlier in the day, the Young Professionals community will gather in Yuanshan Park for a relaxed afternoon with traditional Swedish lawn games before heading to the afterwork together.

Participants are welcome to join one or both parts of the celebration. Please note that separate registration is required for each event.

We look forward to celebrating the arrival of spring with you.
